Reviving Indian Crafts Sustainably: Key Takeaways from the year 2024

As 2024 draws to a close, we at Tisser are filled with gratitude for the remarkable journey we’ve shared with our artisans, partners, and supporters. This year has been a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and unwavering dedication to our mission: empowering artisans and preserving India’s rich heritage of handicrafts, Sustainable Empowerment for Artisans & Planet

A Year of Growth and Impact:

  • New Initiatives: We embarked on several exciting new projects this year, including “Sustainability in the Textile Value Chain” – a crucial step towards minimizing our environmental footprint. “Waste to Wealth” initiative explored innovative ways to utilize textile waste, transforming it into valuable resources.
  • Key Partnerships: We forged valuable partnerships with esteemed organizations such as FSSAI, NMMC, the Textile Ministry of India, SBI Foundation, SAMHITA, and NABARD, expanding our reach and impact.
  • Empowering Women: The Women Health & Livelihood Alliance (WHOLA) continued to empower women artisans through health awareness initiatives.
  • Celebrating Artisans: Tisser actively participated in numerous exhibitions, showcasing the exceptional talent and creativity of our artisans.

A Year of Recognition and Innovation:

  • Industry Recognition: We were honored to be a part of the DEIA Catalyst Program, a significant step towards fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within our organization.
  • Celebrating Women: We commemorated Women’s Day with a special event at the WTC, Mumbai, and celebrated the achievements of women entrepreneurs through “Sutradhar” – a platform for felicitating them with Zep Udyoginchi and the MSME wing.
  • Promoting Indian Arts: We showcased the beauty of Indian arts in contemporary interior designs through “Desh Ki Khoj” at ACETECH 2024 and other platforms, inspiring a new generation of design enthusiasts.
  • Digital Empowerment: We launched “Kalashala” – a comprehensive digital learning tool designed to empower artisans with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the modern market. This initiative aligns with our #crafttech vision, bridging the gap between traditional crafts and digital technologies.

Looking Ahead:

As we step into 2025, we are committed to building upon these successes. We will continue to innovate, collaborate, and empower artisans, ensuring that the legacy of Indian handicrafts thrives for generations to come.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our artisans, partners, donors, and supporters for their unwavering belief in our mission. Your support has been instrumental in making a positive impact on the lives of countless individuals and communities.

We invite you to join us on this exciting journey as we strive to create a more sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future for all.
