PILOT PROJECT –

SUSTAINABILITY & CIRCULARITY IN TEXTILE VALUE CHAIN

BY MANAGING POST CONSUMER TEXTILES

OBJECTIVES

  • To establish a framework for circularity of the Post Consumer Textile waste (PCTW) through systematic collection, segregation , Upcycling and Recycling.
  • To create awareness and capacity building among consumer and other stakeholder about PCTW
  • Helping in livelihood generation / additional income through up-cycling & Recycling with participation of NGOs, SHG and similar placed organization.
  • Assess & Reduce Environmental & Social impact.
  • Minimizing Resource Consumption for New Products through upcycling
  • Textile Recovery Facility (TRF) established
  • Collection 24.1 MT
  • 300+ women skilled to operate TRF, product making
  • 400+ products developed
  • More ‘in demand’ products trials in progress
  • Sale of select products started
  • Awareness among stakeholders generated

Upcycling – Product Developed

  • As the blended material waste is challenging for zero waste initiative , keeping in mind explored the development of paper from mixed waste
  • As of now two trials for paper from mixed waste has been conduct with varying parameters.
