Project Overview
- Name of the project: GRAM – Grassroots Regional Artisan Movement

Project Summary:
With the objective of strengthening the Handicraft Supply Chain and providing greater say of the Artisans/primary producers in the entire value chain, ‘My E-Haat‘ initiative is broadly categorized into Backward Integration and Forward Linkages. While Forward linkage will be taken care by HCL, backward linkages are critical to get the right kind of product through a structured supply chain. The need of the hour is to work on the entire value chain, through the Enterprise Development Model for Creative Cluster. Project has been implemented from April 2022 to March 2024. There are four main aspects of this: end-to-end cluster development, raising awareness around artisan and social cause, design/diversification intervention and digital-enabled interventions. The 3 identified cluster based out of Nagpur in-hub and Spoke model. The most important aspect is productizing these art forms into utility products. Create responsible community artisan groups who can handle the supply chain and generate revenue in the cluster through livelihood interventions.

Case Studies :
Swati Dere, 29 years old, works in various roles at stitching centre, Amravati. This young and enthusiastic team lead at our cluster has become favourite of all with her supportive and motivating nature. She works in project extension, project linkages and bringing new work to the cluster. She encourages all the women at cluster to learn, innovate and present new ideas. She wants her fellow sisters to be confident and self-sufficient and guides them toward the same. She lives with her mother and has taken all the responsibility of their home. She is one ambitious and responsible women who aims for growth- not just for herself but for all women at cluster. She earns up to 15 thousand a month. Her experience with Tisser has been excellent since we have provided tie and dye training to women at cluster after which they received a lot of work.
Shital Khode ,38 years old homemaker, works at stitching centre supported by Tisser and HCL foundation in Amravati. She lives in a small family of three members including herself, husband and their daughter. She received training for stitching at Amravati cluster and started working on various new deigns. She enjoyed the work thoroughly. As she likes making new designs herself, this opportunity was much desired one. Initially her family struggled with irregular income and financial crunch thereby. But getting to utilise her skills to bring income gave her real happiness. “I had never left the home before, it was a limited world. But as I joined training programs by Tisser it changed that world. As I travel for work and meet new people I feel my confidence has increased. Now I deal better with challenges and people,’’ she tells with utmost happiness. She earns 6-7 thousand a month which directly contributes to her daughter’s education. Now that she earns too, it has provided stability to their family. With required support provided by Tisser and HCL foundation, many other women like Shital have got opportunities to restart their lives and make their dreams come true.
