The ‘Women Artisan Skill Enhancement Project’ serves the purpose of bringing the marginalized communities to Maharashtra to upskill via the revival of Warli painting. The project was funded by Larsen & Turbo Infotech and implemented by UNDP (United nations development Programme).
Through the course of the project, artisans were reached out in Mumbai and Thane for the purpose of skilling, training was facilitated to start their own business and a sustainable economic ecosystem was created.
As a result, we not just had a changed landscape for women in rural clusters of Aarey, Ansoli, Thane, Chunapada, Tumnipada , but an increase of income and artist mobilization of 503 women. Also, great many products in Warli painted clothes, Warli Painting, Warli Home décor etc were produced.
