United Nations of Development Programme (UNDP)

United Nations of Development Programme (UNDP), On the ground in about 170 countries and territories, UNDP works to eradicate poverty while protecting the planet. We help countries develop strong policies, skills, partnerships, and institutions so they can sustain their progress.

UNDP has worked in India since 1951 in almost all areas of human development, from democratic governance to poverty eradication, to sustainable energy and environmental management. UNDP’s programs are aligned with national priorities and are reviewed and adjusted annually.

The ‘Women Artisan Skill Enhancement Project’ serves the purpose of bringing the marginalized communities to Maharashtra to upskill via the revival of Warli painting. The project was funded by Larsen & Turbo Infotech and implemented by UNDP (United nations development Programme).

Through the course of the project, artisans were reached out in Mumbai and Thane for the purpose of skilling, training was facilitated to start their own business and a sustainable economic ecosystem was created.

As a result, we did not just have a changed landscape for women in rural clusters of Aarey, Ansoli, Thane, Chunapada, Tumnipada, but an increase in income and artist mobilization of 503 women. Also, a great many products in Warli painted clothes, Warli Painting, Warli Home décor etc were produced.
